I wanted to show young readers the general steps of problem-solving and at the same time, introduce to them the topic of allergies. This story is inspired by my attempt to find out why my hands felt itchy, my throat became sore and my tongue seemed to get bigger after I had some desserts.
When Callie the kitten loses her way in the garden, several small animals offer to help her. They ask Callie if her home is just like theirs. However, Callie points out that each of their homes is unique to them. Callie, on the other hand, only remembers what her home means to her. How is Callie going to find her way home?
This story introduces young readers to small creatures that share a habitat. Young readers will get to know where these creatures live. The book also addresses the notion of “home” as place of shelter, security and comfort. The revelation that Callie lives with people also conveys the idea that individuals from different backgrounds can live under one roof together as one family.
Apabila Callie si anak kucing sesat jalan di taman, beberapa haiwan kecil cuba membantunya. Mereka bertanya adakah rumah Callie seperti rumah mereka. Namun, setiap rumah khusus buat mereka. Callie pula hanya ingat keistimewaan rumah pada dirinya sendiri. Mujur ibu Callie datang. Penhu

I was inspired to write this story by my cat, Calico. She came into my life after she strayed into my mother-in-law’s house on a stormy night. She was hurt. I kept thinking of her walking around at night in pain and looking for a place to keep warm. So I hope Calico now finds her home with me to be a place of comfort and plenty of love.
